International Chefs Day

October 2021

International Chefs Day is celebrated on October 20th! FIF Internatinal Chef 's Day

With COVID-19 wreaking havoc on the hospitality industry in the past year and a half, it's more vital than ever to recognise the work of our Chefs. There's now a shortage of Chefs and other hospitality workers in the Australian foodservice sector. But Chefs are ready to get back to work with determination, as restaurants and cafes begin reopening after lockdown.

International Chef's Day was first initiated by famous chef and former president of the World Association of Chefs Societies (Worldchefs) Dr Bill Gallagher, to honour the profession and recognise the importance of healthy food. The theme for this year is 'Healthy Food for the Future', with Chefs across the world talking about the impact of food production and consumption on the environment.

Chefs from a range of countries are marking the day by hosting various events to promote the career path and to emphasis healthy eating, after being unable to do so in 2020.

Are there any restaurants you've been looking forward to eating at after lockdown? Ask to meet the chef and thank him or her personally!
